The Fall Presbytery Meeting of the Three Oklahoma Presbyteries approved seven motions from the Oklahoma Presbyteries Task Force related to the next steps in the creation of a new Oklahoma Presbytery. One of the motions expanded the participation in the Oklahoma Presbyteries Task Force. Other motions named the six work groups and provided a process for populating them.

The individual presbyteries will be responsible - through their Nominating Committees and Councils – for finding people to serve on the task force and work groups and for approving them. This is an opportunity for those who feel called and equipped to participate in a creative process that will shape the Presbyterian witness in Oklahoma for decades to come. The proposals developed by the work groups and task force over the next years will impact members, elders, deacons, and congregations across the state of Oklahoma. Is the Holy Spirit calling you to serve?

Here are the options to consider, with general descriptions of the work of each:

The Oklahoma Presbyteries Task Force will organize and coordinate the work groups and submit proposals regarding the new Oklahoma Presbytery to the existing presbyteries for their approval.

The Mission Work Group will seek to discern and define the mission and ministry priorities of the new presbytery.

The Finance Work Group will merge the financial resources of the three presbyteries and develop a budget aligned with the mission priorities of the new presbytery.

The Communications Work Group will develop a communication plan with a unified website and social media presence.

The Administration/Structure Work Group will work to integrate the various corporations, bylaws, manuals of operation, and other policies of the three presbyteries.

The Personnel Work Group will develop positions, job descriptions, and personnel policies that align with the new presbytery's needs and mission.

The Community Building Work Group will unite Presbyterian members, ministers, and congregations across Oklahoma through activities, meetings, and events.

If you are interested in being considered for one of the work groups or the Oklahoma Presbyteries Task Force, please email the Moderator of the Nominating Committee, Commissioned Pastor Pam Crawford, at Perrospastordepamela@gmail.com with 1) your name, 2) church affiliation, 3) desired work group or task force, and 4) why/how you feel called to serve on that work group or task force.

The deadline for nominations to the Oklahoma Presbytery Task Force and the six work groups is January 9, 2026.
