Prayer Concerns

Friends,
I received the following note from Joyce Ludwig, Pastor at FPC Broken Bow. Normally these notes are about pastors and their families, but this request reminds us of the value of our connectional church.
Greg
Joyce's note:
Greg,
Paulette La Gasse, whom you have met, has a son Lyle Jones who was in a very serious roll-over auto wreak early Sunday morning. Lyle is in the critical care unit at ETMC - Tyler, TX (East Texas Medical Center). They airlifted him from Broken Bow to Tyler because of its excellent neuro-trauma center. As of Wednesday (July 20) he was incramentally better, but is a long way from being "out of the woods".
Thank God for the connectional church! Sofia Bruner, a former member here, who has moved to Tyler and is now a member of Tyler, First Presbyterian, has been working with their pastoral staff. I understand that they have a house that they use for situations like this one, where there is a family who needs to stay in the area with a patient for an extended period of time. They are working on getting this ready for Paulette and her other son, Kyle.
Prayers are needed for Lyle.
Yours in Christ,
Joyce Ludwig

Dear Friends,
I have another prayer concern to share with you. I just received word that Radford Rader's father passed away in Kansas City. Radford cut short a trip to drive back to Kansas City, where his father died on Monday. I do not know the details for the service, but am fairly certain it will be in Kansas City. Please keep Radford and his family in your prayers.

Friends,
I received the following note from Jennifer Rogers, US Army Chaplain ordained by this presbytery. Let us keep Jennifer and all the men and women who serve on our behalf in our prayers.
Greg
Jennifer's note:
Greg,
I have a prayer concern to share with the Presbytery. My battalion lost a soldier in a live fire operation on Wednesday, at Ft. Campbell. Unfortunately, I am not at liberty to discuss a lot of the details. What I can tell you is that his name is PV2 Gregory Wertz. He was 19 years old, from Napoleon, Ohio, and very recently graduated from basic training and AIT. Any prayers on behalf of the unit and the family are much appreciated.
In Him,
Jennifer Rogers
He has shown you O mortal what is good, and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with your God.

Friends,
Jeff Cranton's mother-in-law (Christi's mother) is in the hospital in Tulsa, with a number of health problems. She has been on a ventilator for several days now, though she did wake up this morning and is responding to questions. Please keep Sue (Christi's mother), Christi and Jeff in your prayers.

Friends,
I wanted to let you know that Wanda Johnson is going to have back surgery (a laminotomy) on June 30. It will be (amazingly) out-patient, so she will be home the next day, but she will be down and recovering for several weeks. Hopefully this will give some relief to some chronic sciatica. Please keep Wanda and Hal, and all those who care for them, in your prayers.

Friends,
I have two prayer requests for you.
The first is for our Synod Executive Judy Fletcher and her family. Judy's mother, Sadie Record, passed away last night, after some time of declining health. The note from the synod office said, "Her dying was peaceful," which is a blessing. Memorial services will be held in Texarkana on Monday.
The second prayer is for Bob Chandler, pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Pawhuska. Bob will be having heart bypass surgery next Wednesday (May 25) at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa. Please keep him, his family, and his doctors and medical staff in your prayers.

Friends,
Please keep Dr. William Wiseman in your prayers. Bill fell and required surgery to relieve pressure on his brain. Surgery was successful, but it will take several days to see how he progresses. Bill is in SICU in a Tulsa hospital, but CANNOT RECEIVE VISITORS due to the nature of his injury. Please keep Bill and Mavis in your prayers. Cards and notes would be fine. But, please, no visitors.

Friends,
Please add to your devotional prayers two families who have suffered loss this week.
Mary Carter's mother, Nell Boggs, passed away Tuesday morning after having been ill for some time. Please keep Mary and Richard, as well as Mary's father, in your prayers. Services will be held at 3:00 on Friday.
Bill Simmons (elder from Henryetta and active on presbytery committees for years) died in his sleep Tuesday night. Please keep Bill's wife and family in your prayers. Services will be at First Presbyterian Church in Henryetta at 2:00 on Saturday.

Friends,
Some have heard by now that Jerry Hill's wife, Sue, was rushed to the hospital Sunday morning. Out of concerns for her previous heart problems, they have run an angiogram and are happy to report that all is well. Let us give thanks for the quick and thorough response of the doctors and hospital. Even so, let us pray for Sue and Jerry and all they have been through in the last three days.

Friends,
I wanted to invite your prayers on this beginning day of Lent.
Bill Bailey (CLP in Fort Gibson) has been very ill with some kind of respiratory infection. Once recovered, he must reschedule a rotator cuff surgery which had to be postponed. Lucky man! Please pray for Bill and Dana.
Please pray also for Jeff Cranton and his family. While on vacation in Kansas City, Jeff got word that his grandfather had died. The family is driving west for the funeral today.
Remember, in this season of preparation and devotion, there is also hope, because we do not walk this path alone.

Friends,
I have a couple of concerns to share.
Mary Carter's parents are both in poor health. Her mother's lungs are filling with fluid and she is in critical condition. Mary's father is also under care for continuing problems. Please pray for Mary and her family.
Please also pray for Cherry Chandler, wife of Bob Chandler (new pastor at Pawhuska). Cherry was in a head-on accident and has extensive damage to one ankle and knee. She is in the hospital and in good condition, but extensive rehabilitation (and probably more surgery) will be required.

Friends,
Forgive me, for I have gotten a little behind in our notices. We have had several serious illnesses and deaths in the last few weeks.
Let us pray for Judy Henderson's sister, who is critically ill.
Let us pray for Archie and Brenda Lawrence; Brenda's father died this weekend.
Let us pray for Wes Smith (one of our lay preachers), whose wife Jenny died last week.
Let us pray for David Dearinger and his family; David's father-in law died toward the end of December.
